About Rest for the Weary

I hope you will find this little spot a place of rest and refreshment for your soul. My intention is to build up women in the trenches of homeschooling. This includes veterans who are burned out and former homeschooling moms who have decided for one reason or another to put some or all of their children in school. Thanks for stopping by. Take a deep breath of refreshment for your weary soul.

About me

My name is Lisa (also known as LLMom around the web) mom of 7, ages 23 down to 8.  I homeschooled the first 2 all the way through high school.  In 2011, after experiencing severe burnout with accompanying depression, I sent all 5 remaining at home to school.  After a semester, I pulled the 4 youngest back out.  In the Fall of 2013, I sent one more back to school, and in January, I sent 2 more leaving only my dyslexic 3rd grader at home.  The intent is to get her reading well and put her in school in a year and a half.  All 4 attend private Catholic school.  I have homeschooled a total of 18 years.

  1. I just found your blog via another blog - Kaye Wilson.

I have been praying and searching for a website like this and I totally want to encourage you in writing your e-book! Thank you for being so candid on this blog. I haven't made it all the way through every post but have read quite a few and I am just so encouraged. I really have a "homeschooling heart" and most of my friends homeschool, but when I am really honest with God, I know He is not calling me to that path and asking me to surrender. I love finding blogs where moms are very real and honest with their struggles and interior life.

This is a beautiful means to evangelize to moms who need to rest in Jesus and trust in Him. Thank you. Thank you!

    Look forward to reading more!

  2. Ah....I can so relate to homeschool burnout. After years of home education I too was became ill and could not focus on schooling. At that point the oldest was just about done, the next went to the local hs, and the 2 younger boys were enrolled in cyber school....a luxury of PA in that it is like a private online school, but free.
They are just 1 1/2 years left and they graduate! At that point I will have had the kids home schooled in one way or another for 21 years 0_o...I think I will take a 6 month nap at that point :).
Glad to have found your lovely place via Write 31 Days.
